DTF or DTG Common Process of Printing T-shirts

DTF or DTG If you want to print various patterns on T-shirts, what types of processes are available? Common processes include screen printing, DTF heat transfer technology, digital direct injection, embroidery, and other processes. Different processes have their own characteristics, and the process suitable for designing patterns is the best.

  1. T-shirt printing process — water slurry

This is the oldest T-shirt printing process. The water slurry is somewhat similar to the pigments we usually use in painting. The method of painting is also very easy to understand. The water slurry is printed on the clothes through the hollowed-out lattice on the printing plate pattern. The disadvantage of the water slurry printing process is that only one color can be printed at a time. A pattern needs to be published once. However, the marginal cost of water paste printing is relatively low, and the permeability is good.

  1. T-shirt printing process — DTF printing

This process is also called heat transfer technology. The printing process is to print the pattern on a special material film, and then use high temperature and pressure to transfer the pattern of heat transfer paper to clothes. This method is the most suitable printing method for making small quantities of T-shirts and other clothing at present. This process does not need to open the plate, simplifying the printing process.

Digital direct jet printing is currently the most high-end and cutting-edge printing technology. The digital direct injection machine can print articles with a width of 600-1800mm, a length of 1-2.5m and a thickness of 0-20cm. The parameters produced by different manufacturers are different.

This process has become one of the most convenient ways of garment printing, and has entered the market in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. This printing technology is designed to meet the rising demand for more eco conscious textile production.

Textile is considered to be one of the largest polluting industries in the world, with wastewater accounting for about 20% of global wastewater and exhaust gas accounting for 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The world produces more than 150billion pieces of clothing every year, and each American handles about 32 kilograms every year, while the average European handles about 11 kilograms of fabric every year. DTG printing recognized the possible impact of ordinary textile practices on the environment and proposed a responsible solution. Water based ink

The technology uses water-based pigment inks, which are excellent candidates for biodegradation. Compared with other inks and dyes, these inks are considered to be more environmentally friendly inks because they contain natural pigments and environmentally friendly chemical additives, and there is almost no emission of volatile and organic compounds.

The working conditions of DTG working area are considered to be one of the safest choices in the textile industry. Bid farewell to the traditional textile printing and dyeing factory with high temperature and pungent smell. Direct jet printing of ready-made clothes only needs three steps: pretreatment, printing and drying, without wastewater pollution. The ink and pretreatment liquid used are water-based liquids, which are harmless to health.

No post-treatment

Compared with other traditional printing or dyeing methods, DTG does not need to go through a series of complex processes. Most textiles need a lot of water and detergent to remove chemicals and additives, such as softeners, after the original sizing treatment, while textiles applied with DTG technology can get a ready-made garment after printing and drying, without damaging the original soft feel of textiles.

Reduce waste

DTG printing is a fully automatic process to reduce manual errors and ensure the consistency of each textile parameter. Customization has no quantity requirements, and can also be produced in small batches. The amount of ink can be accurately controlled according to the production volume of textiles, so as to maximize the standard of environmental protection technology. In addition, most DTG printers minimize ink waste in the cleaning cycle to avoid unnecessary waste pollution to the environment.
